Greetings programs! It's been two years and I've all but disappeared. Life has a funny way of veering off course and bringing you right around again. So in the spirit of resuscitation (like this new post on an old blog) lets talk about the holder of the original red light of death, The Nintendo Entertainment System.
When blowing the NES carts doesn't work anymore there's only a few things you can do. You could clean and bend 72 pins or replace them altogether. I've done both and neither is a permanent solution. I fact my 2nd new 72 pin connector is failing/failed. Fear not though, for a new contender has arisen...The Blinking Light Win Nintendo Repair Part!
Here's the description from the Arcade Works website...
It's here. The ultimate in NES connector repair part. A project that was launched successfully on Kickstarter with nearly triple the amount of the fund amount, has finally been released. The "blinking light win" has been produced to save all the non-working original Nintendo Entertainment systems of the past. Stop being frustrated with your Original Nintendo, and get started classic gaming again with the original "Toaster Nes" and recondition it the right way the best engineered solution now known as the Blinking Light Win.
With both a successful re-design of the original Nintendo console cartridge carrier slot, this repair part for the original NES supercedes all previous attempts of repairing the "72 pin connector". And to make your original Nintendo experience so much more than what it was before, the BLW also features no region lockout. Meaning that you can now successfully play any region original NES game with this original NES repair and modification.
Still skeptical? Well I strongly suggest that you check out the Gaming Historian's review of this product and decide for yourself.
